Folksoc University of Southampton Folk Society

What is Folksoc? What do you do?

Hi! You seem to have stumbled across Folksoc, the home of folk music in Southampton. We meet every week for folk sessions and put on a number of gigs and barn dances, or ceilidhs (ceilii?), each year.

Sounds awesome. How do I join?

Just turn up and join in! We meet from 7pm - 9pm every Monday at building 34 room 3019 to learn and play folk tunes, then generally head to the pub for a session. Anyone with any instrument with any ability is welcome, or even just bring your voice if you don't play anything (expect to be taught to play the spoons eventually, though).

What's coming up?

The start of a new year!

Come and meet us and find out about the society at the Bunfight in freshers week (Wednesday 24th September), whether you're a fresher coming to the university for the first time, or a returning student.

Our first session will be on Monday 29th September, as described above. If you're not sure whether to come, come anyway and see what it's all about, then you can make an informed decision! Bring an instrument if you have one, or we'll give you something to make noises with if you don't.
